HORROR IN PAHALGAM: ZIPLINE TOURIST UNWITTINGLY FILMS DEADLY TERROR ATTACK

The serene beauty of Pahalgam's meadows turned into scenes of horror last Monday as terrorists launched a deadly attack that claimed 26 lives, including those of 24 Indian tourists, one Nepali citizen, and a local resident.
Standing at the site where blood still stains patches of grass in Baisaran &ndash; locally known as 'mini Switzerland' for its picturesque landscape &ndash; one cannot help but notice the striking contrast between the area's natural splendour and the tragedy that unfolded here.
A chilling video has emerged showing the attack from an unusual perspective &ndash; captured inadvertently by Rishi Bhatt from Ahmedabad who was enjoying a zipline ride when gunfire erupted. In the 53-second footage, Bhatt can be seen smiling as he films himself with a selfie stick, completely unaware of the chaos unfolding below. The haunting soundtrack to his ride is not the expected sounds of excitement, but rather the unmistakable crack of gunshots.
"I took my wife and son and started running as soon as I detached myself from the safety belt," Bhatt recounted at the scene, his voice still trembling days after the incident. "We saw people hiding in a sort of pit where they couldn't be easily spotted. We hid there too."
The family remained hidden for nearly ten minutes until the firing temporarily ceased. "We started running toward the main gate... then the firing resumed and four to five people were shot. Around 15-16 tourists were shot in front of us," he said.
Visiting the location where the attack took place reveals scattered personal belongings &ndash; abandoned shoes, bags, and blood-stained clothing &ndash; testifying to the panic that ensued as tourists fled for their lives.
According to Bhatt, security forces were present only in lower areas, with "no Army official at the main location" where the attack occurred. A pony guide ultimately helped his family escape to safety.
Other footage from the scene shows terrified tourists seeking shelter behind a small kiosk and, most distressingly, victims lying motionless on the grass as gunfire continues in the background.
The Resistance Front, believed to be a shadow group of the banned Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, has claimed responsibility for what is now recognised as the deadliest attack in the Valley since the 2019 Pulwama strike.
Among the victims were an Indian Navy officer and an Intelligence Bureau personnel.
