A fire broke out in an AC coach of the Amritsar-Saharsa Garib Rath Express near Sirhind railway station in Punjab on Saturday morning, prompting a swift evacuation of passengers. The incident occurred around 7:30 AM when smoke was noticed in coach G-19. A quick-thinking passenger pulled the emergency chain to stop the train, allowing officials to safely evacuate travelers from the affected coach.
The fire quickly spread within the coach, affecting two additional coaches to a minor extent. Railway officials separated the impacted coaches from the rest of the train and called in fire tenders to bring the blaze under control. Passengers were shifted to other coaches to ensure safety while the fire was extinguished.
One passenger, a 32-year-old woman, sustained minor burn injuries and was admitted to the Civil Hospital in Fatehgarh Sahib. Officials confirmed that the cause of the fire is under investigation, with no further casualties reported.
After the incident, the train service was resumed, and the Railway Board assured that safety measures were in place to prevent future incidents. The prompt action of passengers and staff averted a potentially serious disaster.
