In a breakthrough, the Jammu &amp; Kashmir Police, working with the Intelligence Bureau and Faridabad Police, have foiled a terror plot by seizing around 350 kilograms of explosives, an AK-47 rifle, and a large cache of ammunition from a rented house in Dhauj village, Faridabad.
The operation was launched on Sunday after crucial leads emerged during the interrogation of terror suspects in Jammu &amp; Kashmir. The explosives were found at the residence of Dr Mujahil Shakil, a student of Al Falah Medical College originally from J&amp;K, who had rented the property three months ago.
Police said the recovery included 14 bags of ammonium nitrate (100 kg), 84 live cartridges, one AK-47, timers, five litres of chemical solution, and several components used to make improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
Authorities clarified that the seized substance was ammonium nitrate, not RDX as initially reported. Shakil had been arrested earlier by J&amp;K Police on October 30 following the capture of Dr Adil Ahmad Rather, another accused linked to the same network. After interrogation, Shakil led investigators to the Faridabad site where the materials were hidden.
Preliminary findings indicate that both accused were part of a cross-border terror module planning large-scale attacks in northern India. Forensic teams have confirmed the explosive nature of the material, and further analysis is underway.
Sources said the seized ammonium nitrate could have been used to create several high-intensity IEDs capable of massive destruction. Multiple agencies, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA), are expected to join the ongoing probe to trace the network&rsquo;s funding and handlers.
