Security was tightened at the Delhi and Mumbai High Courts on Friday after both institutions received bomb threat emails within hours of each other.
In Delhi, police launched a comprehensive search operation at the High Court premises after receiving the alert. Sniffer dogs and bomb disposal squads were deployed, though no suspicious items were found.
Similarly, the Bombay High Court was evacuated and security checks were conducted after an email warned of explosives on the premises. Mumbai Police confirmed that the threat appeared to be a hoax, but stepped up security across judicial establishments in the city.
Authorities are investigating the source of the emails, which are suspected to have originated from outside the state. Cybercrime units in both cities have been tasked with tracing the sender.
Officials said the incidents underline growing concerns about the safety of judicial institutions. Both courts resumed normal functioning after extensive checks ensured the premises were secure.
