A Class 10 student from a well-known school in central Delhi died by suicide on Tuesday after leaving behind a handwritten note accusing his teachers and the headmistress of persistent harassment. The 16-year-old reportedly jumped from an elevated West Delhi metro station during the afternoon.
Police found a detailed note in his school bag naming the staff members he claimed had been mistreating him for months. Following the discovery, a case was registered under Sections 107 (abetment to suicide) and 3(5) (common intention of criminal act) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Three teachers and the headmistress were suspended on Thursday.
The Delhi government&rsquo;s Directorate of Education has formed a five-member committee led by Joint Director Harshit Jain. The panel is expected to submit its report within three days.

According to friends and family, the student had been subjected to repeated, targeted harassment. They claim the school ignored warning signs and failed to intervene. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from both the school and the metro station and are recording statements from students who may have relevant information.
<h3 dir="ltr">Student Had Reported Mental Health Concerns</h3>
The boy&rsquo;s father and uncle said he had confided in the school counsellor earlier, expressing distress and harmful thoughts, but his concerns were reportedly brushed aside. While he shared his struggles with friends, he had not opened up to his family about the severity of the situation.
<h3 dir="ltr">Classmate Says Teachers Bullied Him</h3>
One classmate supported the claims made in the suicide note, saying the student had been bullied by teachers and was planning to file a formal complaint with the headmistress. The family also revealed that he had mentioned being troubled just a day before the incident. They had agreed to shift him to another school after his board exams.
<h3 dir="ltr">Students Claim Culture of Intimidation</h3>
Other students alleged that teachers frequently summon parents over trivial issues and use harsh language in class. The boy&rsquo;s father recalled being called to the school months earlier over a minor matter and said he had requested teachers not to pressurise his son academically.

CCTV footage from the metro station showed the boy calmly placing his bag down and walking around for a few minutes. He even assisted a woman on the platform before approaching a security guard. Moments later, when the guard briefly looked away, the boy jumped.
The incident has intensified discussions on student stress, school accountability, and the urgent need for mental-health-sensitive education systems.
