At least three people were killed and two others remain missing after a cloudburst struck Rajgarh in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir early Saturday. The incident occurred around midnight, damaging two houses and a school building. Rescue teams have been deployed to trace the missing and assist survivors.
The Ramban administration has mobilised emergency teams to provide relief to those affected. The Jammu region has faced widespread devastation due to incessant rains in recent weeks. From August 14 to 26, more than 138 people lost their lives in rain-related incidents across Kishtwar, Kathua, and Reasi districts.
The India Meteorological Department has forecast intermittent rain and thundershowers across several parts of the Jammu division until September 2. Authorities have urged residents to stay cautious, as moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in scattered districts.
This latest cloudburst highlights the growing vulnerability of hilly regions in Jammu and Kashmir to extreme weather events triggered by monsoon rains.
