The aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack has left 11-year-old Zainab and 8-year-old Zenish in an emotional crisis, as they were sent back to Pakistan while their mother remains stranded in Delhi. Both children, Pakistani nationals, had arrived in India with their mother, an Indian passport holder, to visit their grandmother in Delhi just a month ago.
&ldquo;Leaving my mother behind is very difficult. My heart is broken,&rdquo; Zainab told a section of the media, her voice quivering as tears filled her eyes. "I came here to meet my Naani in Delhi, but now we are going back without my mother as she has an Indian passport and we are Pakistani," Zainab added, her words filled with sorrow.&nbsp;
&ldquo;I told my mother several times to come with me, but she said the government had given orders."
While deeply affected by the situation, Zainab also voiced her opinion on the recent attacks in Pahalgam, saying that those responsible should be "severely punished." However, she added a plea to the government, &ldquo;Don&rsquo;t bother innocent people like us.&rdquo;
The tense situation stems from the Indian government&rsquo;s response to the Pahalgam attacks on April 22. In retaliation, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government issued an order for all Pakistanis to leave India by April 27, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah instructed state authorities to ensure the expulsion of Pakistani nationals. Pakistan, in turn, suspended visas for Indians.
Zainab&rsquo;s younger sister, Zenish, shared her own grief at the border, saying, &ldquo;I can&rsquo;t stay without my mother.&rdquo;
The family, who had traveled from Karachi to India, now finds themselves trapped in a bureaucratic nightmare, caught between two countries with conflicting rules. While the mother holds Indian citizenship, the children are Pakistani nationals.
&ldquo;I appeal to allow my mother to travel to Pakistan,&rdquo; said Alyan, another child affected by the situation. His desperate plea highlights the family&rsquo;s painful separation.
Mohammad Irfan, Alyan&rsquo;s father, explained the distress his family is going through. &ldquo;We came from Karachi to India last month. Today we are going back without my wife, Nabila, because she has an Indian passport. My children are devastated. These terrorists have ruined our family, and they must face action,&rdquo; he said. His voice trembled with both frustration and sorrow.
Similarly, Mohammad Imran, who had traveled to India with his wife Sharmeen and daughters, is now facing an equally heartbreaking reality. &ldquo;I came with my daughters and wife, but now my wife Sharmeen isn&rsquo;t allowed to return to Pakistan because she holds an Indian passport,&rdquo; he said.&nbsp;
&ldquo;She had been living in Pakistan for the past 18 years but holds Indian nationality. We are stuck now.&rdquo;
In light of the family&rsquo;s anguish, they have appealed to the Prime Minister for assistance. &ldquo;Modi must help us. Children cannot live without mothers,&rdquo; Mohammad Irfan pleaded.
