The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a serving Karnataka Police Deputy Superintendent along with two private individuals in a high-stakes case involving alleged cheating, forgery of government seals, and destruction of evidence. The arrests mark a significant turn in a probe that was ordered by the Karnataka High Court and later upheld by the Supreme Court.
Those taken into custody include S.Y. Mohan, Deputy SP of Karnataka Police, currently posted at the State Human Rights Commission in Bengaluru, along with D.A. Srinivas and D.A. Kalpaja. The CBI says the accused were involved in a criminal conspiracy that included forging valuable securities, misusing official stamps and seals, and creating false evidence to derail investigations.
The case is linked to the death of K. Raghunath and several connected forgery matters that were earlier probed by the state police. Dissatisfied with the initial investigation, the High Court transferred the case to the CBI, citing serious lapses. That decision later received affirmation from the country&rsquo;s top court, giving the federal agency a clear mandate to proceed.
Investigators allege that official machinery was misused to manipulate records and suppress material evidence, striking at the core of institutional integrity. The accused were arrested on December 22 and are being produced before the jurisdictional court after medical examination, as the investigation moves into a critical phase.
