A tragic road accident on Harsh Parvat in Rajasthan&rsquo;s Sikar district claimed the lives of two Delhi tourists on Sunday, while a young girl traveling with them survived with injuries.
The car, returning from the hilltop near Antari Nala close to the watch tower, lost control and plunged nearly 250 feet into a steep gorge. Locals and police teams from Jeenmata Police Station, Sadar Thana, and Civil Defence rushed to the spot. Rescuers managed to pull out the injured girl, who has been admitted to SK Hospital in Sikar and is undergoing treatment.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the car may have slipped into neutral gear while descending the narrow slope, causing the driver to lose control. Efforts are underway to lift the wrecked vehicle with the help of a crane.
Police have cordoned off the area and are examining multiple factors, including vehicle condition, possible mechanical failure, and road safety measures.
Harsh Parvat, standing at around 3,100 feet, is a popular tourist attraction that draws thousands of visitors daily. However, its winding and narrow roads have often been flagged as risky, particularly during descent.
The tragic incident has once again highlighted the urgent need for stricter safety protocols in hilly tourist spots. Authorities are expected to review and strengthen measures to prevent such accidents in the future.
