The political war between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) intensified on Friday after the Delhi BJP alleged that AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal has constructed a &ldquo;luxurious 7-star mansion&rdquo; in Chandigarh using Punjab government funds.
In a post on X, the Delhi BJP claimed that Kejriwal has been allotted a &ldquo;two-acre government bungalow&rdquo; in Sector 2, Chandigarh, from Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann&rsquo;s quota. The party described Kejriwal as Punjab&rsquo;s &ldquo;Super CM,&rdquo; accusing him of pretending to be a common man while enjoying extravagant privileges. &ldquo;After vacating the Sheesh Mahal in Delhi, Punjab&rsquo;s &lsquo;Super CM&rsquo; Arvind Kejriwal has now had an even more magnificent Sheesh Mahal prepared in Punjab,&rdquo; the BJP&rsquo;s post said, along with an alleged satellite image of the property.
Adding to the controversy, AAP&rsquo;s Rajya Sabha member Swati Maliwal also shared an aerial image of the same residence, alleging that Kejriwal uses Punjab government aircraft for his personal and political travel. She claimed that he took a government helicopter from his residence to Ambala, and from there, the Punjab government&rsquo;s private jet flew him to Gujarat for party-related work. Maliwal accused the Bhagwant Mann government of misusing Punjab&rsquo;s resources for Kejriwal&rsquo;s personal comfort, saying, &ldquo;The entire Punjab government is engaged in serving one man.&rdquo; 
Responding sharply, the Aam Aadmi Party dismissed the allegations as baseless. In an official post on X, the party said the BJP was spreading &ldquo;fake news&rdquo; out of frustration after being exposed over the &ldquo;fake Yamuna story.&rdquo; AAP claimed that the photo shared by BJP leaders was of the Punjab Chief Minister&rsquo;s official camp office, not Kejriwal&rsquo;s personal residence. &ldquo;The BJP&rsquo;s fake claim is that Kejriwal ji has been allotted a house, so where is the allotment letter? The Chandigarh administration is under the BJP, only they can get something built there. By sharing a photo of the CM&rsquo;s camp office, the frustrated BJP is making fake claims,&rdquo; the party stated.
This controversy comes months after similar allegations surfaced regarding Kejriwal&rsquo;s official residence in Delhi&rsquo;s Civil Lines area. In 2024, BJP leader Vijender Gupta had filed a complaint with the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) alleging violations in the construction of Kejriwal&rsquo;s residence at 6 Flag Staff Road. The CPWD report confirmed that several government plots and bungalows were demolished and merged into one sprawling complex, allegedly breaching ground coverage and floor area ratio norms. The BJP had dubbed it &ldquo;Sheesh Mahal,&rdquo; accusing Kejriwal of hypocrisy for living lavishly while claiming to represent the common man.
The renewed &ldquo;Sheesh Mahal 2.0&rdquo; allegations have now shifted the battleground to Punjab and Chandigarh, with both parties trading sharp accusations ahead of the upcoming elections.
