A tragic incident in Bihar&rsquo;s Samastipur on Monday has sparked public outrage after a private school teacher allegedly shot dead a 19-year-old girl student.
The victim, identified as Gudiya Kumari, daughter of Vinay Kumar from Ward 1 of Parsa Panchayat, was returning home from a coaching institute in Baheri block when the shooting occurred at Kothiyan village under Shivajinagar police station limits.
Gudiya, who was preparing for the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination, collapsed on the spot after being shot by the accused and died instantly.
According to police, the accused a native of Nalanda district and teacher at a private school had been pressuring Gudiya to marry him. Her family said he had issued threats earlier, prompting them to file a police complaint, but no action was taken. They believe the killing was motivated by his one-sided obsession, which Gudiya had firmly rejected.
The incident enraged villagers, who set the private school on fire. The teacher fled immediately after the attack.
Protesters also blocked the Singhia&ndash;Baheri&ndash;Darbhanga main road, disrupting traffic, and demanded the accused&rsquo;s immediate arrest as well as the presence of senior police officials at the site.
Police, including the DSP of Rosera and station in-charges from Shivajinagar and Baheri, arrived to control the situation. Authorities confirmed that raids are underway to apprehend the absconding teacher, promising strict punishment.
&ldquo;We have recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem. We are awaiting a written complaint from the family to register an FIR. Preliminary investigation suggests it was a case of one-sided love. Raids are ongoing to capture the accused,&rdquo; said the SDPO of Rosera range, Samastipur district.
