In response to the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu has launched a high-level review of airline safety, operational preparedness, and passenger services.
The minister met with Air India CMD Campbell Wilson, focusing on maintaining service continuity and improving communication with affected passengers. Due to ongoing challenges &mdash; including Middle East tensions, enhanced safety checks, and a European night flying ban &mdash; Air India is temporarily scaling down operations and will restructure its flight schedule. Passengers impacted by these changes will be rebooked or offered full refunds.
Naidu urged Air India to enhance on-ground coordination and ensure customer support teams communicate clearly and empathetically during delays or cancellations.
He also met senior management from Indigo, SpiceJet, and Akasa on June 18&ndash;19 to assess fleet readiness, safety compliance, and overall passenger experience. The ministry will now institutionalise regular operational reviews with all airlines for better oversight.
In a nationwide video call with airport directors, Naidu reviewed ground-level readiness, stressing proactive handling of delays caused by weather, airspace closures, and post-crash checks. He instructed officials to ensure:

Airports were also directed to extend full logistical support to struggling airlines, and bolster wildlife hazard management to reduce risks from birds and stray animals on runways.
