A fresh audio clip circulating on social media has brought renewed attention to the case of Sarabjit Kaur, a 48-year-old Indian national currently in Pakistan, who has reportedly sought help to return to India while alleging mental harassment.
In the over one-minute-long audio clip, Sarabjit is heard speaking to her former husband, Karnail Singh, who is now based in the United Kingdom. In the recording, she claims that she has been compelled to remain in Pakistan and is facing psychological distress. Her deportation to India is currently on hold due to ongoing legal proceedings.
However, the authenticity of the audio clip could not be independently verified.
According to officials familiar with the matter, Sarabjit had travelled to Pakistan in November during a Sikh pilgrimage, where she later married a Pakistani national after converting to Islam. Senior officials have now indicated that her family has started claiming she originally went to Pakistan to retrieve certain photographs allegedly held by Nasir Hussain.
Central agencies are currently investigating the case. Officials stated that the family had remained silent since the matter first surfaced, but has recently alleged that Sarabjit is being forced to stay in Pakistan after being blackmailed using personal photographs.
The case has drawn significant attention amid concerns over cross-border travel, personal safety, and the legal complexities involved in such situations.
