In a deeply tragic incident, four children lost their lives due to suffocation after becoming trapped inside a parked car in Dwarapudi village, located in the Vijayanagaram Cantonment area of Andhra Pradesh.
According to police reports, the children, all under the age of 10, had entered the unattended car while playing. The doors, initially unlocked, accidentally latched shut after they got inside, trapping them with no means of escape.
The victims&mdash;Uday (8), Charumati (8), Charishma (6), and Manasvi (6)&mdash;were reported missing after they failed to return home for several hours. Charumati and Charishma were sisters, while the other two were their friends. A frantic search by their families eventually led to the devastating discovery of their bodies inside the vehicle parked near the local Mahila Mandali office.
This tragic event has cast a pall of sorrow over the entire village.
Unfortunately, this is the second such incident in the Telugu states within a month. In April, two young girls in Telangana's Ranga Reddy district died in a similar manner. The cousins, aged four and five, had entered a parked car during a wedding in Damaragidda village, Chevella mandal. The car doors locked unintentionally, and the children were trapped inside for an extended period during intense heat. They were found unconscious and declared dead at a local hospital.
Adding to the grief, another incident occurred on the same day in Andhra Pradesh&rsquo;s Chittoor district, where three children drowned in a pit filled with rainwater in Devarajapuram, Kuppam mandal. The victims were identified as Shalini (5), Ashwin (6), and Gautami (8).
These back-to-back tragedies underscore the urgent need for increased awareness and safety precautions to prevent such heart-rending incidents.
