Faridabad&rsquo;s Al-Falah University, already under the scanner after several of its doctors were linked to the Red Fort car blast, is now facing fresh trouble, this time from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The accreditation body has issued a show-cause notice to the private university for allegedly displaying false accreditation claims on its website.
The NAAC has accused the institution of &ldquo;misleading the public&rdquo; by continuing to list expired Grade A accreditations for two of its colleges, the Al-Falah School of Engineering and Technology and the Department of Teacher Education. According to the notice, both accreditations lapsed years ago, and neither college reapplied for the renewal process.
&ldquo;Both of the above colleges&rsquo; accreditation statuses have expired. The university&rsquo;s claims are absolutely wrong and misleading to parents, students, and stakeholders,&rdquo; the notice stated.
The agency has sought a reply within seven days, warning that legal action could follow, including a recommendation to the UGC to withdraw the university&rsquo;s recognition under Sections 2(f) and 12B. NAAC also said it may suggest disciplinary steps to other regulatory bodies such as the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the AICTE.
The development comes amid heightened scrutiny of the university after Dr. Umar Un Nabi, the Kashmir-based doctor who allegedly drove the Hyundai i20 that exploded near Delhi&rsquo;s Red Fort on November 10, was found to have lived and worked at Al-Falah Medical College. Another doctor from the same campus, Dr. Muzammil Shakil, was arrested a day earlier for stockpiling explosives.
Though the university has publicly distanced itself from both accused, saying their connection was limited to &ldquo;official employment,&rdquo; investigators are probing whether campus facilities or networks were exploited as part of a larger terror operation.
Adding to the intrigue, a suspicious Maruti Brezza car was discovered on the university campus and is being examined by the Jammu &amp; Kashmir Police. Officials from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) also visited the Faridabad campus as part of the ongoing anti-terror probe.
Meanwhile, security agencies recovered CCTV footage showing Umar entering Delhi through the Badarpur border in the same i20 that later exploded. Investigators have also found diaries belonging to Umar and Muzammil, listing dates between November 8&ndash;12, believed to coincide with the blast&rsquo;s planning timeline.
As investigations widen, Al-Falah University&rsquo;s credibility, both academic and institutional faces serious questions.
