The eighth edition of the India&ndash;UK Joint Military Training Exercise Ajeya Warrior 25 began on Monday at the Foreign Training Node, Mahajan Field Firing Ranges in Rajasthan. Held from 17 to 30 November 2025, the 14-day exercise highlights the deepening defence ties and growing interoperability between the Indian Army and the British Army.
A combined strength of 240 soldiers, equally divided between the two forces, is taking part in the exercise. Representing India are troops from the distinguished Sikh Regiment, known for their discipline and operational expertise.
Conducted under a United Nations mandate, the exercise focuses on sharpening joint capabilities for counter-terrorism operations in semi-urban environments. Over the next two weeks, participating troops will train through an extensive and immersive curriculum.
Key training elements include Brigade-level joint mission planning, integrated tactical manoeuvres, simulation-based war scenarios, and company-level field drills designed to mirror real-world counter-terror operations. These modules aim to bolster coordination, enhance tactical skills, and build coherent responses for complex operational situations.
Special focus areas include sharing best practices, refining Standard Operating Procedures, and improving synergy for peacekeeping and counter-terror missions.
Launched in 2011 and conducted every two years, Ajeya Warrior has evolved into a signature engagement between the two armies. The 2025 edition builds on past collaborations and reflects a strong foundation of mutual trust, shared strategic goals, and a commitment to peace and regional stability.
Beyond military cooperation, the exercise also encourages cultural understanding and strengthens defence diplomacy. With its emphasis on joint learning and operational readiness, Ajeya Warrior 25 stands as a significant contributor to the evolving defence partnership between India and the UK.
