A deadly road accident on National Highway-11 near Sridungargarh, Bikaner, late Monday night claimed the lives of five people and left four others seriously injured, police said.
The incident took place near Sikhwal Upvan when two cars collided head-on with devastating force. The impact left both vehicles mangled, with some passengers thrown out onto the road.
Locals and police who rushed to the scene found bodies scattered, and rescue operations required cutting open the vehicles to retrieve trapped victims. In one case, extraction took nearly an hour.
Four victims died on the spot, while another succumbed to injuries en route to PBM Hospital in Bikaner. The deceased were identified as
Karan (Abhay Singh Pura), Dinesh Jakhar, and Manoj Jakhar (Bigga), Madan Saran (Sridungargarh), Mallu alias Mahalchand Bhargava (Napasar)
The first four were returning from a pilgrimage to Khatu Shyam Temple. Bhargava was in the other vehicle.
The injured &mdash; Santosh Kumar, Surendra, Jitendra, and Lalchand, all from Napasar &mdash; remain in critical condition at PBM Hospital.
Station Officer Jitendra Swami confirmed that traffic on the Sridungargarh&ndash;Ratangarh road was disrupted but has now been cleared. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
This tragic accident has once again raised concerns over road safety on Rajasthan highways.
