A tragic accident occurred in Himachal Pradesh&rsquo;s Mandi district on Thursday as a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus carrying around 30 passengers veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge near Tarangala in the Sarkaghat subdivision.
According to police officials, five people lost their lives in the crash. Among the deceased were two men and two women who died at the scene. Several others were injured, and three of the critically hurt passengers were transferred to AIIMS Bilaspur for further medical treatment.
The bus was traveling through the hilly terrain when it reportedly lost control and went off the edge. Authorities said the exact cause of the accident is still under investigation.
Emergency teams from the local police station and the office of the Deputy Superintendent of Police reached the accident site shortly after the incident. Local villagers were the first to respond and began rescue operations before official help arrived. Most of the passengers on board were local residents.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed condolences to the affected families. He said that directions had been given to the district administration to ensure that all injured passengers receive timely and proper treatment.
&ldquo;In this hour of grief, I extend my heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families and wish a quick recovery for the injured,&rdquo; the Chief Minister posted on social media.
Former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur also expressed his sorrow, calling the incident deeply unfortunate. He urged the administration to make all necessary arrangements for medical aid.
