A political row has erupted in Madhya Pradesh after over 40 voter identity cards were found dumped near the official residence of Union Minister Virendra Kumar Khatik in Tikamgarh&rsquo;s Civil Lines area.
Officials confirmed that several of the recovered IDs were partially burnt, suggesting a possible attempt to destroy them. The discovery was reported by the Minister&rsquo;s representative, Vivek Chaturvedi, who alerted district authorities and urged them to check whether the documents had been misused in government schemes.
Acting on the complaint, Collector Vivek Shrotriya ordered a detailed probe. A district administration team seized the damaged cards and initiated verification. Tehsildar Satyendra Singh Gurjar told reporters that the IDs would be submitted to the Election Commission for further inquiry.
&ldquo;The condition of the recovered voter IDs raises serious concerns about potential fraudulent use,&rdquo; Gurjar said. Investigators are tracing the origins of the cards and verifying linked identities to determine if they were used in any illegal activities.
Union Minister Virendra Kumar Khatik, a senior BJP leader and Lok Sabha MP from Tikamgarh, is currently in New Delhi for the Monsoon Session of Parliament, sources added.
