The Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested three individuals from Sopore &mdash; Irfan Mohiuddin Dar, Mohd Asif Khan, and Gowhar Maqbool Rather &mdash; for alleged involvement in activities that threaten national security.
Police officials revealed that the trio had been under surveillance and were found using encrypted communication tools like VOIP and VPNs to maintain contact with cross-border terrorist handlers. Despite previous FIRs under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the accused reportedly continued to incite local youth toward subversive actions.
All three have been detained under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) and are now lodged in Kot Bhalwal Jail.
The Sopore Police, reaffirming their zero-tolerance policy on threats to peace, warned that anyone disrupting security will face strict legal consequences. Authorities also thanked residents for their cooperation and urged vigilance to maintain peace in the region.
Following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, security forces across J&amp;K remain on high alert. Officials also flagged concerns over drug smuggling and overground worker (OGW) networks suspected of funding terrorism.
