In a swift and strategic response to the escalating conflict in the Middle East, India has successfully evacuated 110 students from northern Iran under &lsquo;Operation Sindhu&rsquo;. The evacuees are set to arrive in New Delhi in the early hours of June 19, 2025.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Indian Embassy facilitated the safe movement of the students across the border into Armenia on June 17. Under the supervision of Indian missions in Iran and Armenia, the students travelled by road to Yerevan, from where they boarded a special flight on the afternoon of June 18.
The mission is part of a broader government effort to ensure the safety and security of Indian nationals in conflict-hit regions. The MEA thanked both Iranian and Armenian authorities for their cooperation in ensuring a smooth evacuation process.
&ldquo;India accords highest priority to the safety of its nationals abroad,&rdquo; the MEA said. As the situation in Iran remains volatile due to the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict, Indian diplomatic missions have been actively relocating citizens from high-risk areas to safer zones.
Indian nationals in Iran have been urged to remain in contact with the Indian Embassy in Tehran via its emergency helpline, and with the MEA&rsquo;s 24x7 Control Room in New Delhi for updates and assistance.
