India&rsquo;s Chief of Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi, has issued a bold warning to Pakistan while reflecting on Operation Sindoor, the recent counter-terror operation that ended in just 88 hours. Speaking at the &lsquo;Chanakya Defence Dialogues&rsquo; in New Delhi, General Dwivedi declared, &ldquo;Operation Sindoor was just a trailer which ended in 88 hours. We are prepared for any circumstances in future. If Pakistan gives a chance, we will teach it how to behave responsibly with a neighbouring nation.&rdquo;
Outlining the key lessons from the operation, he stressed the need for swift decision-making at every level of command, robust inter-force integration, and long-term preparedness. &ldquo;One of the things we learned was that we have very less time to take any decision, and take a decision at every level on time,&rdquo; he said. He underscored the importance of joint operations, noting, &ldquo;Just the army cannot fight a battle, everyone has to fight together,&rdquo; citing the air force and navy&rsquo;s roles in multi-domain warfare.
General Dwivedi also highlighted the unpredictability of future conflicts. &ldquo;This time we fought for 88 hours; next time it could be four months too or even four years,&rdquo; he cautioned, adding that adequate supplies and weapons must be ensured for any prolonged engagement. The Army Chief reiterated that India&rsquo;s &ldquo;new normal&rdquo; in the face of state-sponsored terrorism is uncompromising: &ldquo;When we talk about the new normal, we have said that talks and terror can&rsquo;t go together.&rdquo;
On the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, General Dwivedi pointed to a significant decline in terror incidents post the abrogation of Article 370. &ldquo;After this, political clarity has come,&rdquo; he said, pointing to improved conditions in the region following the reorganization into two Union Territories.
