Former India captain Krishnamachari Srikkanth has criticized the national selectors for recent T20I decisions, especially questioning Shubman Gill&rsquo;s appointment as vice-captain. 
The 1983 World Cup winner argued that Gill&rsquo;s elevation has made him &ldquo;undroppable,&rdquo; creating an imbalance within the squad.
Speaking on his YouTube channel Cheeky Cheeka, Srikkanth expressed frustration over what he called a lack of flexibility in team selection. 
&ldquo;They won&rsquo;t drop Gill for the next three games. He&rsquo;s the vice-captain for the T20 World Cup, that&rsquo;s fixed now. It&rsquo;s also clear that he&rsquo;s being groomed as the future T20I captain,&rdquo; he said. 
&ldquo;But if that&rsquo;s the case, on what basis was he made vice-captain?&rdquo;
Team Balance Concerns
Srikkanth argued that Gill&rsquo;s guaranteed spot has thrown off the team&rsquo;s balance, affecting other key players. 
&ldquo;With Gill&rsquo;s inclusion, the balance is gone. They don&rsquo;t know what to do now. Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma have no fixed positions, and Arshdeep Singh is out of the XI,&rdquo; he stated. 
In a sarcastic remark, he added, &ldquo;The only good thing is that the T20 World Cup is in India, they&rsquo;ll somehow manage.&rdquo;
The Yashasvi Jaiswal Question
The former selector also highlighted the puzzling omission of Yashasvi Jaiswal, despite his consistent performances in both IPL and international cricket. 
&ldquo;Jaiswal is waiting in the wings. He&rsquo;s not even in the team,&rdquo; said Srikkanth. 
&ldquo;India has talented players like Abhishek Sharma. If players like Jaiswal are given opportunities, they&rsquo;ll make full use of them. But now, he has no opening to break in.&rdquo;
Backing Jaiswal&rsquo;s credentials, Srikkanth continued, &ldquo;He came through the IPL and has an excellent record across formats. I don&rsquo;t understand why he isn&rsquo;t playing despite such form. Give him the same chances &mdash; he&rsquo;ll destroy bowlers at the top.&rdquo;
Selection Under Scrutiny
Srikkanth&rsquo;s remarks suggest that India&rsquo;s selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, may have boxed itself into a corner by prioritizing leadership roles over form and balance. 
With the T20 World Cup approaching, and India set to host it, pressure is mounting on the management to address these selection issues and finalize a combination that gives the team its best chance at glory.
