India&rsquo;s young women boxers showcased their rising dominance in continental boxing as Nisha (54kg) and Muskan (57kg) clinched gold, while five others secured silver at the U19 Asian Boxing Championships 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand, on Sunday.
Of the 10 Indian women in the U19 competition, nine will return with medals 2 golds, 5 silvers, and 2 bronzes reaffirming India&rsquo;s emergence as a boxing powerhouse alongside Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and China.
Nisha opened India&rsquo;s gold tally in the second bout of the day, stepping up her performance in the final round to secure a 4:1 win over Sirui Yang of China. Muskan followed with an aggressive display to edge past Kazakhstan&rsquo;s Ayazhan Ermek in a 3:2 split decision.
The U19 and U22 Asian Boxing Championships, held simultaneously, provide a stage for India&rsquo;s next generation of boxing talent to test themselves against Asia&rsquo;s best. India has sent a strong 40-member squad 20 in each age category blending experienced champions with promising newcomers.
Three Indian men will fight for gold later in the day, while the U22 team is already assured of 13 medals, with five boxers set to compete in finals on Monday.
In other U19 women&rsquo;s finals on Sunday, Vini lost to Uzbekistan&rsquo;s Sevara Mamatova (60kg), and Nisha fell 4:1 to Japan&rsquo;s Arinda Akimoto (65kg). In the higher weights, Aarti Kumari (75kg) went down to China&rsquo;s Tongtong Gu, while Kritika Wasan (80kg) narrowly lost 2:3 to Kazakhstan&rsquo;s Kuralay Yeginbaikyzy. Parchi Tokas (80+kg) suffered a similar 2:3 defeat to Uzbekistan&rsquo;s Sobirakhon Shakhobidinova.
