India celebrated a historic day at the World Boxing Cup Finals 2025 as Minakshi (48kg), Preeti (54kg), Arundhati Choudhary (70kg), and Nupur (80+kg) claimed gold medals in front of an electrifying crowd at the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex.
The victories came in major Olympic weight divisions that will be part of the 2028 Los Angeles Games, reflecting India&rsquo;s growing power in women&rsquo;s boxing as the sport moves toward complete gender parity.
India&rsquo;s strong performance was further highlighted by silver medal finishes from Jadumani Singh, Pawan Bartwal, Abhinash Jamwal, and Ankush Phangal. Their results underscore the country&rsquo;s rising status in both men&rsquo;s and women&rsquo;s Olympic categories. Seven more Indian boxers, including World Champion Jaismine Lamboira, two time World Champion Nikhat Zareen, and World Boxing Cup medalist Hitesh Gulia, will compete for gold later in Session 7.
Minakshi opened India&rsquo;s medal surge with a brilliant 5-0 victory over reigning Asian Champion Farzona Fozilova. The World Champion displayed speed, sharp accuracy and control, breaking the contest early with a crisp left right combination and dominating through steady jabs, counters and tight defence.
Preeti extended the momentum with her commanding 5-0 win against Italy&rsquo;s World Championship medallist Sirine Charrabi. Her relentless forward pressure, clean punches and superior footwork left Charrabi struggling to keep pace.
Arundhati Choudhary, a former Youth World Champion, delivered one of the most complete performances of the tournament. In her return after 18 months, she outclassed Uzbekistan&rsquo;s Aziza Zokirova in a sweeping 5-0 victory, mixing strategic movement with powerful scoring shots.
Nupur sealed India&rsquo;s fourth gold in a close tactical bout, edging Uzbekistan&rsquo;s Sotimboeva Oltinoy 3-2 in a nerve-filled contest.
In the men&rsquo;s finals, India secured four silver medals. Jadumani Singh (50kg) fought bravely but lost 1-4 to Uzbekistan&rsquo;s Asilbek Jalilov. Pawan Bartwal (55kg), who had earlier produced one of the tournament&rsquo;s biggest upsets, was defeated by Samandar Olimov. Abhinash Jamwal (65kg) went down fighting 1-4 against Japan&rsquo;s experienced Shion Nishiyama, while Ankush Phangal (80kg) fell to England&rsquo;s defending champion Shittu Oladimeji.
The day marked one of India&rsquo;s strongest showings at the World Boxing Cup, strengthening the nation&rsquo;s position in global boxing ahead of the 2028 Olympic cycle.
