India&rsquo;s upcoming women&rsquo;s home series against Bangladesh, scheduled for December and comprising three ODIs and three T20Is under the ICC Future Tours Programme, is expected to be postponed amid escalating political tensions in Bangladesh.
The series, for which specific dates and venues had not yet been confirmed, had already faced uncertainty before the recent political developments in the neighbouring country. 
The situation intensified on Monday after a tribunal court sentenced former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to death. 
Her refuge in India has added strain to bilateral relations, with Dhaka insisting on her return.
According to reports, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has received communication from the Board of Control for Cricket in India indicating that the tour will be rescheduled. 
While no formal reason has been stated, the political situation is understood to be a key factor behind the decision.
The December fixtures were intended to be India&rsquo;s final international assignment before the 2026 edition of the Women&rsquo;s Premier League. 
The ODIs were also set to mark the beginning of a new cycle in the Women&rsquo;s ODI Championship for both sides. 
Matches were planned in Kolkata and Cuttack.
Earlier this year, the Indian men&rsquo;s white-ball tour of Bangladesh, originally slated for August 2025, was also deferred to September 2026. 
Announcing that decision, the BCCI had said, &ldquo;This decision has been reached following discussions between the two boards, taking into account the international cricketing commitments and scheduling convenience of both teams.&nbsp;The BCB looks forward to welcoming India in September 2026 for this eagerly anticipated series. Revised dates and fixtures for the tour will be announced in due course.&rdquo;
Revised dates for the women&rsquo;s series are expected to be announced after further discussions between the two boards.
