The Gujarat government has rolled out a new health initiative titled the &ldquo;Gujarat Karmayogi Swasthya Suraksha Yojana,&rdquo; offering cashless medical treatment of up to Rs 10 lakh per family. The scheme is applicable to All India Services (AIS) officers, as well as officers, employees, and pensioners of the state government. Beneficiaries will be required to use a &ldquo;G&rdquo; category card provided under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) to access the scheme.
The Health Department has issued comprehensive guidelines for eligible individuals and their families on how to obtain the benefits offered under the scheme.&nbsp;
As per the directive, holding a valid PMJAY card is essential for availing of the Gujarat Karmayogi Swasthya Suraksha Yojana&rsquo;s cashless health benefit. The task of distributing these cards has been assigned to the State Health Agency (SHA).
Eligibility criteria for family members differ based on service categories. For state government employees, officers, and pensioners, the term &ldquo;family&rdquo; will be defined in accordance with the Gujarat State Services (Medical Treatment) Rules, 2015. For AIS officers, the definition will align with the AIS (Medical Attendance) Rules, 1954.&nbsp;
A certificate listing the names of dependent family members who qualify for the scheme is required.
This certificate must be issued in the prescribed format by the head of the office where the employee is currently posted. In the case of AIS and state government pensioners, the certificate must be obtained from the District Treasury Officer, Sub-Treasury Officer, Pension Payment Officer, or Pay and Accounts Officer in the district from where the pension is disbursed. Alternatively, it may be issued by the head of the office from which the individual retired.
Additionally, all family members must provide their Aadhaar numbers to enable electronic Know Your Customer (E-KYC) verification.
For employees on a fixed-pay basis whose service ends without permanent appointment, or in situations where an individual resigns, voluntarily leaves service, or is dismissed due to disciplinary proceedings and is not eligible for a pension under existing rules, it is the responsibility of the last office where the individual served to notify the SHA. Based on this information, the SHA will proceed to remove the names of such individuals and their family members from the PMJAY beneficiary list.
