Seattle marked history by hosting its first-ever India Day Parade, celebrating India&rsquo;s 79th Independence Day with unmatched grandeur and cultural vibrancy.
The highlight of the celebrations was the India Pavilion, where more than 30 booths represented India&rsquo;s 28 states along with thematic exhibits. Each stall showcased One District One Product (ODOP) items, narrating India&rsquo;s rich heritage and craftsmanship.
Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell, who attended the event along with several US dignitaries, praised the strong bond between India and the United States. He said, &ldquo;From raising the Indian flag at the Space Needle to today&rsquo;s parade downtown, these moments highlight Seattle&rsquo;s commitment to inclusion and the deep bonds we share with India and our Indian American community.&rdquo;
For the first time in history, the Indian Tricolour flew atop Seattle&rsquo;s iconic Space Needle, symbolising the deepening India-US friendship.
More than 2,000 attendees witnessed colorful floats, folk dances, and cultural programs that captured the essence of India&rsquo;s Unity in Diversity. Traditional performances included Garba from Gujarat, Lavani from Maharashtra, Kuchipudi from Andhra Pradesh, Odissi rituals from Odisha, and Bengal&rsquo;s tribute to Swami Vivekananda.
Alongside the cultural parades, Indian-American youth showcased art, heritage exhibits, and linguistic traditions. Culinary stalls with regional specialties added flavor to the festivities, offering Seattle a vivid taste of India&rsquo;s diversity.
Seattle&rsquo;s first India Day Parade was co-hosted by the City of Seattle in partnership with Indian-American community groups, making it a landmark celebration of friendship, cultural pride, and inclusivity.
