UP: Teen shoots man convicted of uncle’s murder

A teenager allegedly shot dead a man convicted of killing his uncle 18 years ago in the Muradnagar area, sparking protests among local residents and traders. The accused later surrendered at a nearby police station.
The victim, 49-year-old Imran, a milk trader from Kachchi Sarai Basti, had been sentenced to life imprisonment by a district court for a murder in 2007. He had appealed the conviction in the high court and had been out on bail since 2017.
Preliminary investigations indicate the teenager shot Imran on Saturday to avenge his uncle&rsquo;s murder. Imran was reportedly sitting at a friend&rsquo;s cycle shop in the Olympic trisection market when the teenager allegedly fired three rounds, hitting him in the chest. He collapsed immediately and was rushed to a local community health centre, where doctors declared him dead. His body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
Following the incident, local shopkeepers closed the market in protest, citing inadequate police security. Residents expressed fear and outrage over the daylight killing.
Apart from the teenager, four others&mdash;Yasir, Sabir, Arfaz, and Kaif&mdash;have been booked in connection with the case. Police are investigating the involvement of the other accused and verifying the age of the teenager.
Authorities have deployed additional police forces in the area to prevent any further unrest.
