New Delhi: A designated court has sentenced then ONGC manager (F&amp;A) to three years rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs25 lakh for involvement in disproportionate assets case.
The Special Judge for Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) cases, Ahmedabad sentenced Kishanram Hiralal Sonkar, then manager, F&amp;A, ONGC, Ankleshwar to three years rigorous Imprisonment. A fine of Rs25 lakh &mdash; in a&nbsp;case related to possession of Disproportionate Assets &mdash; was also imposed on the accused.
CBI had registered the instant case on 29/06/2006 against accused Sonkar on allegations that the accused during the period 01/10/2002 to 21/06/2006, had amassed assets disproportionate to his known source of income to the tune of Rs14,11,310, which was 84% in excess to his known source of income. 
After completion of investigation, a chargesheet was filed by the CBI on 24/01/2008 for amassing assets to the tune of Rs22,15,609 disproportionate to his known source of income. He collected this wealth during the check period from 01/01/2000 to 01/07/2006 which is 62% in excess to his known source of income. 
After examining all evidence, the court found the accused guilty and sentenced him accordingly.
