MINING MAFIA ATTACK LEAVES DRIVER DEAD, OFFICER'S VEHICLE TORCHED

A violent confrontation between police and illegal sand mining operatives has left one man dead and a senior officer's vehicle in flames in what witnesses describe as a scene of utter lawlessness along the Banas river.
The incident unfolded late Thursday night in Chauth Ka Barwara when officers responded to reports of illegal sand extraction operations. According to police sources, the situation rapidly deteriorated when officers attempted to prevent the removal of sand from the riverbed.
Rather than comply with police directives, the mining operatives allegedly launched a barrage of stones at the officers before the situation escalated dramatically. In the chaos that followed, a tractor-trolley driver identified as Surgyan Meena from Bundi was killed when he was reportedly struck by one of the vehicles.
The mining gang subsequently torched the private vehicle belonging to Deputy Superintendent Labhu Ram Bishnoi before fleeing the scene.
Local residents quickly gathered at the location following the driver's death and began confronting the police. The situation remains tense, with locals demanding formal action against the officers involved.
Superintendent Mamta Gupta, speaking to this reporter on Friday, confirmed that additional officers have been deployed to maintain order amidst the growing unrest. "We are endeavouring to calm the protestors who have gathered following the unfortunate death," she stated.
The deceased's brother, Ram Prasad Meena, has levelled serious allegations against the police, claiming an officer killed his brother with an iron rod&mdash;a charge that directly contradicts the official account of events.
Police have registered a case of attempted murder against the mining operatives, whilst the deceased's body awaits post-mortem examination before being released to grieving family members.
This incident highlights the increasingly violent nature of sand mining operations in the region, with criminal gangs showing growing willingness to directly confront law enforcement officers attempting to curb their illegal activities.
