A woman was arrested on Sunday for allegedly killing her husband following a domestic dispute in the Bamangola area of West Bengal&rsquo;s Malda district, police said.
The deceased was identified as Biswajit Sarkar, a toll plaza worker. 
The accused, Pampa Roy, was detained after preliminary investigation.
Police said Sarkar and Roy had been in a relationship before marrying six years ago. 
The couple has a four-year-old daughter. 
Locals reported that the two frequently quarrelled over various domestic issues.
According to officers, the incident occurred on Saturday night when Sarkar returned home from work around 8.30 p.m. Roy reportedly prevented him from entering the house, leading to an argument. 
As Sarkar pushed his way inside, Roy allegedly stabbed him in the stomach with a knife.
Sarkar collapsed and shouted for help. 
Neighbours rushed him to Malda Medical College and Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries later that night.
Bamangola police were informed soon after the attack and conducted inquiries at both the residence and the hospital before arresting Roy.
A senior officer of Malda district police said, "Prima facie, it appears that the crime was committed in the heat of the moment.&nbsp;However, neighbours also said that the husband and wife frequently fought over a host of issues. Therefore, an investigation has started to find out whether the crime was premeditated. A case has been registered, and the accused woman has been arrested."
Police said the motive behind the killing is under investigation.
