Delhi Police have booked a father&ndash;daughter duo for allegedly running a large-scale travel fraud by cheating tourists and travel agents using fake discounted air tickets and hotel vouchers. Investigators say the scam operated for years, affecting multiple victims across the city.
The accused, identified as Sandeep Chowdhary and his daughter Mallika Chowdhary, are alleged to have deceived victims by offering attractive travel packages and bulk flight bookings at unusually low prices. After receiving full payments, the duo either cancelled the bookings or failed to make reservations and later refused to issue refunds.
Multiple FIRs have been registered at different police stations under provisions related to cheating and criminal breach of trust. One complaint filed in New Friends Colony alleged a loss of nearly Rs 8 lakh after the victim booked a Singapore trip. The accused reportedly persuaded the victim to cancel the trip and then withheld the refund.
Several travel agents also reported financial losses. A Gurugram-based businessman running a tour and travel agency claimed he was duped of around Rs 70 lakh after fulfilling bulk ticket bookings using his own credit lines. According to his complaint, payments were never made and all communication was abruptly cut off.
Another complaint states that two brothers lost nearly Rs 12 lakh while booking a Switzerland vacation package, discovering later that neither the flights nor hotels were booked.
