Karnataka Police are preparing to request the formation of a fast-track court to ensure a speedy trial against jailed Kannada superstar Darshan, his partner Pavithra Gowda, and several others accused in the sensational fan murder case.
Officials said preparations are underway, and the department will soon approach the state government for its approval. The move follows the Supreme Court&rsquo;s directive to complete the trial at the earliest. Police sources indicated that efforts are being made to conclude the trial within six months and then submit a detailed report to the Supreme Court after securing convictions.
Senior officials are currently in talks with the law department, and the formal request is expected to be placed before the government on Monday (August 18).
The development has reportedly left Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and other accused shocked. They were taken back into custody on August 14 after the Supreme Court cancelled their bail.
Inside prison, authorities have made it clear that Darshan and his associates will receive no special treatment. Sources confirmed that he has been given one bedsheet and food as per the standard jail menu. Unlike earlier instances when he was permitted home-cooked meals, the actor&rsquo;s request has now been denied. Even his demand for an additional bedsheet due to cold weather was rejected, with officials citing prison guidelines that allow only one.
Meanwhile, Darshan&rsquo;s wife Vijayalaxmi posted a broken-heart emoji alongside a photo of the actor on Instagram, reflecting her distress over the situation.
The Supreme Court had earlier cancelled the bail of Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and five others, ruling that the Karnataka High Court&rsquo;s decision was flawed. The Bench, comprising Justices R. Mahadevan and J.B. Pardiwala, also directed that witness examination be expedited, reiterating that no one, regardless of status, is above the law.
Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and 15 others were first arrested on June 11, 2024, for allegedly kidnapping and murdering Renukaswamy, a fan from Chitradurga. Following the latest court order, they remain lodged in Bengaluru Central Prison.
