A devastating road accident on the Kota-Udaipur highway in Rajasthan&rsquo;s Bundi district claimed four lives and left four others injured in the early hours of Wednesday.
The crash took place around 5 a.m. near the Baba Ramdev temple in the Dabi police station area, when a speeding dumper collided head-on with a car carrying eight passengers. The impact of the collision was so severe that all occupants of the car sustained injuries.
According to officials, the car was travelling from Beawar to Rajsamand and was reportedly arranged by a contractor identified as Hemraj. The accident happened just five kilometers before the Dhaneshwar toll plaza.
Emergency services rushed to the spot after receiving alerts from the highway control room. &ldquo;All eight passengers were found injured when rescue teams arrived. They were immediately shifted to the Community Health Centre in Dabi,&rdquo; a police officer confirmed.
Doctors at the centre declared one person dead on arrival, while the remaining victims were referred to Kota&rsquo;s Medical College Hospital. Tragically, three more succumbed to their injuries during treatment, including a woman.
The four survivors, among them a one-and-a-half-year-old child, continue to receive medical care at the hospital. Police confirmed that the deceased bodies have been kept in the mortuary, with post-mortem examinations to be conducted once family members arrive.
The accident caused temporary disruption of traffic on the busy highway, sparking panic among locals and commuters. Authorities are probing whether overspeeding or negligence led to the deadly collision.
Officials stressed that the tragic incident highlights the dangers of early morning travel when visibility is low and fatigue often becomes a silent risk factor.
