Police in Saran district of Bihar have successfully rescued 17 minor girls from exploitation during a major operation targeting unlawful practices in orchestras. The raids were conducted following a letter from the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), which prompted immediate action.
A special team from the women&rsquo;s police station, led by the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Saran, carried out coordinated raids across areas under the Mashrakh, Panapur, and Isuapur police stations.&nbsp;
The operation uncovered that several orchestra operators had been enticing minor girls with false promises of careers in films and music albums. Instead, the girls were being forced to perform obscene dances and subjected to physical abuse.
The SP explained that confidential information had been received regarding these activities. &ldquo;During the raids, 17 minor girls were rescued who were being forced into exploitative and obscene activities,&rdquo; the SP said.&nbsp;
The special women&rsquo;s police team was quickly formed and deployed to conduct the raids at multiple orchestra venues in the identified areas.
Following the operation, FIRs have been registered against numerous individuals involved in the exploitation. The SP emphasised that &ldquo;strict action will be taken against orchestra operators, and those involved in such illegal activities will not be spared.&rdquo;
This raid is part of a continuing campaign against exploitation in the district. So far, 162 minor girls have been rescued, 21 cases registered, and 56 accused arrested as part of this crackdown.
The rescued girls have been transferred to safe locations where they are receiving counselling and rehabilitation services. The police have also appealed to the public to report any such incidents without delay to ensure timely action.
