The investigation into the death of 23-year-old Rajkumar Jat has progressed, with the Rajkot court granting permission for a narco analysis of the accused Ganesh Gondal. The test was conducted at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Gandhinagar. The doctors will submit the findings to the SIT, said Premsingh Delu, SP Surendranagr and SIT head and then they will be submitted to the Gujarat High Court.
Rajkumar, originally from Rajasthan, went missing on 3 March 2025 while preparing for UPSC exams. His body was discovered on 9 March on an overbridge near Targhadia on the Rajkot&ndash;Ahmedabad highway. He belonged to a family running a longstanding Pav Bhaji shop in Gondal.
Initially, police concluded Rajkumar&rsquo;s death resulted from a bus accident. CCTV footage from surrounding areas, post-mortem reports, and an investigation of 78 vehicles led authorities to suspect the Mahasagar Travels bus number 3131. The bus driver later confessed to hitting Rajkumar, claiming a bright light obscured his view.
The post-mortem revealed 43 injuries, consistent with high-speed impact, though authorities continue investigating the exact cause of each mark. The family alleges murder, citing multiple injuries and gaps in the CCTV footage released by police. They claim footage omits time spent at a former MLA&rsquo;s house and insist the case be pursued rigorously.
The narco analysis involves administering sodium pentothal to observe responses in a semi-conscious state. While results are not admissible in court, information leading to further evidence can be used. The Rajkot Police continue their investigation under high scrutiny, with multiple teams reviewing evidence from CCTV, vehicle tracking, and eyewitness accounts.
This case remains under intense public attention due to alleged political links and concerns about transparency in the investigation.
