Prime Minister Narendra Modi commenced a two-day visit to Gujarat on Monday with a roadshow in Vadodara, where thousands lined the streets to greet him. His arrival at the Vadodara airport around 10 am was met with a grand reception, followed by a one-kilometre-long roadshow leading to the Air Force station on the outskirts of the city.
The Prime Minister&rsquo;s procession was met with chants in support of the Indian Army and Modi himself, as tricolours waved and flower petals rained down. Women dressed in red sarees, representing the symbolic hue of sindoor, were seen showering petals on the motorcade. Modi acknowledged the enthusiastic crowd by leaning out of his vehicle during the journey.
Among the attendees were relatives of Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, who has drawn national attention for her regular media briefings on &lsquo;Operation Sindoor&rsquo;. Colonel Qureshi hails from Vadodara, and her family members, including her parents, brother Mohammad Sanjay Qureshi, and twin sister Shayna Sunsara, were present at the roadshow.
Speaking after the event, Sunsara stated, &ldquo;We felt good meeting PM Modi. PM Modi has done a lot for women's empowerment. Sofia is my twin sister. When your sister does something for the country, it inspires not only me but others as well. She is no longer just my sister but the country's sister as well.&rdquo;
Sunsara, a prominent public figure in Vadodara, is known as the city&rsquo;s &ldquo;Wonder Woman.&rdquo; Her diverse achievements span roles as an economist, fashion designer, environmentalist, and former Army cadet. She has also earned recognition through beauty pageants, having held titles such as Ms Gujarat, Ms India Earth 2017, and Ms United Nations 2018.
After concluding the roadshow, Modi departed from the Air Force station to Dahod. There, he visited a railway locomotive manufacturing facility and inaugurated the nation&rsquo;s first 9,000-horsepower locomotive engine.&nbsp;
Later in the day, the Prime Minister will head to Bhuj in Kutch district, where he will unveil and lay foundation stones for 33 projects valued at Rs 53,414 crore. These include developments in the sectors of solar energy, power transmission, road and building infrastructure, and Kandla Port facilities.
In the evening, upon returning to Ahmedabad from Bhuj, Modi is set to conduct another roadshow en route to Gandhinagar, where he will spend the night at Raj Bhavan.
On Tuesday, his schedule includes an event at the Mahatma Mandir convention centre in Gandhinagar, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation for further development projects worth Rs 5,536 crore. Altogether, Modi's two-day tour will cover infrastructure initiatives exceeding Rs 82,950 crore in investment, as stated in an official release.
