The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has issued a critical advisory to fishermen operating off the Gujarat coast, urging them to return to land immediately due to an anticipated shift in weather conditions. The advisory follows a rainfall forecast released by the Indian Meteorological Department, which has predicted adverse weather in the coming days.
To enhance safety at sea, Coast Guard vessels have been deployed to patrol the waters and are using loudspeakers to disseminate warnings directly to fishermen setting out from the coast. The warning emphasises the importance of prioritising safety under deteriorating weather conditions and strongly advises fishermen to remain ashore until further instructions are issued.
Simultaneously, the Indian Navy has stepped up its presence in the North Arabian Sea in response to rising tensions with Pakistan, following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.&nbsp;
The Navy had earlier issued four green alerts for live firing exercises in a coastal region situated 85 nautical miles from the area where Pakistan is currently conducting naval drills.
In addition, the Indian Hydrographic Office has issued a warning announcing a scheduled military exercise involving live firing operations by Indian Navy ships and aircraft. The exercise is set to take place in the Arabian Sea off the coast of Porbandar. Mariners have been advised to avoid the specified zone during the operation period for safety reasons.
On Saturday, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence on 7, Lok Kalyan Marg. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also met with the Prime Minister earlier in the day.
