Gandhinagar is set to get its first 12-storey smart police station with residential quarters for officers, near the Dholakuva Metro Station. The facility, named the &ldquo;Model Smart Infocity Police Station-cum-Residency,&rdquo; has received preliminary clearance from the Home Department, with construction estimated to cost over Rs 20 crore. The tendering process is expected to conclude by the end of October, and officials aim to complete the project before Diwali 2026.
The new building will feature parking on the ground floor, with the next three floors dedicated to the police station. The remaining eight levels will house 2BHK apartments for police families, with each floor containing four self-contained flats equipped with kitchens, drawing rooms, and attached bathrooms. The apartments will also feature vitrified tile flooring, and solar panels will power the building.
Currently, Infocity Police Station operates from a rented facility near Sector-7 Shopping Centre, while Sector-7 Police Station is located in Sector-6. Overlapping jurisdictions have caused confusion among residents, as the Infocity area initially fell under Sector-7 before New Gandhinagar&rsquo;s expansion made a separate station necessary.
District SP Ravi Teja Vasam Shetty, who proposed the project after assuming charge, said the new facility will address the long-standing need for a permanent police station in Infocity. &ldquo;Once the tender is finalised, construction will begin swiftly,&rdquo; he stated.
The smart station will include modern amenities such as digital kiosks, FIR and case management rooms, CCTV-monitored premises, a help desk for women and senior citizens, and a clean waiting area for visitors. Plans also include a garden and a play area for police families, making it Gujarat&rsquo;s first integrated high-rise police station and residence, combining work and housing under one roof.
