Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Gujarat on May 26-27, marking his first trip to the region following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 and Operation Sindoor on May 7. During this visit, he is set to address public meetings in Bhuj, located in the Kutch district, and in Dahod.
In Bhuj, the Prime Minister is expected to speak at a large public gathering on May 27. The event, likely to attract over one lakh attendees, will be held on Mirzapar Road, where a substantial dome structure is being constructed to accommodate the crowd. In addition to addressing the rally, he will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for a number of development projects.
Prior to the Bhuj event, Prime Minister Modi is anticipated to visit the Naliya Airbase, where he will meet with soldiers stationed there. These personnel were involved in securing the nation amid heightened cross-border tensions with Pakistan, following the Indian military's execution of Operation Sindoor targeting terrorist infrastructure across the border.
The Prime Minister is also expected to visit the Mata Ashapura temple and the shrine at Mata no Madh before proceeding to the public meeting venue. Officials from the Kutch district administration have indicated that preparations are being made for a potential stop at the Bhuj Air Force base as part of his itinerary.
Preparatory work is already in progress. A review meeting was held on Saturday, chaired by the District Development Officer (DDO), to oversee planning efforts.&nbsp;
Cleaning and logistical arrangements at the rally venue are currently underway. On Monday, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Primary, Secondary and Adult Education, and Higher Education Praful Pansheriya, who is in charge of Kutch district, visited the site to inspect the progress.&nbsp;
He was accompanied by Kutch BJP MP Vinod Chavda. Pansheriya later held a meeting with district officials and confirmed on social media platform X that he had reviewed the ongoing preparations.
Following his visit to Kutch, Prime Minister Modi is expected to travel to Dahod, where he will inaugurate the Locomotive Rolling Stock Workshop. The facility, which will produce high-speed freight locomotives with 9,000-horsepower capacity, is a major infrastructure project with an investment of Rs 20,000 crore.&nbsp;
The foundation stone for the workshop was laid by the Prime Minister in April 2022.
In March this year, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw visited the workshop to inspect its developments, including a simulator and the prototype of the newly designed 9,000 HP WAG locomotive.&nbsp;
At the time, he stated that the prototype was complete and undergoing trials. &ldquo;The locomotive is 89% a Make-in-India project and is equipped with advanced features including KAVACH technology. Within the next three years, the locos will start being exported and it will make Dahod a global name across the world,&rdquo; the minister said.
The Dahod district administration, in collaboration with the railway authorities, has held high-level meetings to prepare for the Prime Minister&rsquo;s arrival and the formal inauguration of the workshop.
