A distressed grandmother from Chitlav village in Thasra Taluka, Kheda district, reached Gandhinagar on Tuesday seeking urgent intervention from Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi in the search for her missing 16-year-old granddaughter.
Revaben Bodana, 65, said her granddaughter Gita disappeared on September 10. She alleged that a youth, Ranjitsinh Manisinh, entered their home around 5 a.m. and took the girl away while she was asleep. Despite repeated visits to the District Superintendent of Police, the Deputy SP, the local police inspector and even the area MLA, she claims no action has been taken for nearly three months.

Revaben was accompanied by local resident Galabhai Khristi, who alleged that the accused paid around ₹3 lakh to certain officials, leading to his release. He said the family feels abandoned despite the government&rsquo;s stated commitment to &ldquo;Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao&rdquo;.
Kheda-Nadiad SP Vijay Patel confirmed that the police have made multiple attempts to trace the girl, including searches in Morbi in October and Jamnagar ten days ago. He said the lack of digital traces no active phones or bank accounts has slowed the investigation. &ldquo;We are tracking the IMEI and exploring all options. The delay is due to technical challenges, not negligence,&rdquo; he said.
District Collector Amit Prakash Yadav said his office had not received a formal application but assured that women&rsquo;s safety cases receive priority. The family has now submitted written complaints to the Collector, the Women&rsquo;s Commission in Gandhinagar and the Home Minister, alleging political pressure and dismissive behaviour from local police. They have appealed to Sanghavi to intervene personally and ensure that Gita is found.
