The Gujarat government will present five major bills during the seventh session of the 15th Legislative Assembly, scheduled from September 8 to 10. The session will focus on reforms in labour, taxation, industry and healthcare.
The Factories (Gujarat Amendment) Bill, 2025, to be introduced by the Labour Department, aims to revise working hours, boost safety standards and encourage investment, with special focus on women workers. The Gujarat GST (Second Amendment) Bill, 2025 will align state law with the Central GST Act as per GST Council recommendations. The Industries and Mines Department will table the Gujarat Public Trust (Amendment) Bill, 2025, while the Gujarat Jan Vishwas (Amendment) Bill, 2025 seeks to digitise compliance, simplify processes, ease business operations and reduce court cases.
In healthcare, two bills will be introduced: the Gujarat Medical Practitioners (Amendment) Bill, 2025, which renames the Ayurvedic and Unani board as a &ldquo;Council&rdquo; in line with central rules, and the Gujarat Medical Institutions (Registration and Regulation) (Amendment) Bill, 2025, extending time for clinical establishments to complete registration.
The Assembly will open on September 8 with question hour, followed by a condolence motion for former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who died in a plane crash. Legislative business will be taken up on September 9 and 10. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will also move a congratulatory motion on the success of Operation Sindoor.
Preparations are underway, with the Business Advisory Committee led by Speaker Shankar Chaudhary set to finalise the schedule. On September 8, the ruling party will hold a strategy meeting attended by CM Patel, BJP state president CR Patil, Union ministers, cabinet members and MLAs.
