<div><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">The Minister explained that nearly 1.75 crore households and businesses would benefit from the decision, with cumulative savings of more than Rs 400 crore expected between July and September 2025. He described the move as part of the government&rsquo;s drive to make electricity more affordable.</span></div>

<div><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Desai recalled that the state has gradually eased the surcharge in the past year. From January 2024, the rate was brought down by 50 paise per unit, falling from Rs 3.35 to Rs 2.85. A further 40 paise cut in October 2024 reduced the rate to Rs 2.45 per unit, which was maintained during the first quarter of the 2025&ndash;26 financial year, covering April to June 2025.\</span></div>

<div><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">He said the latest reduction was made possible through stable purchase prices, prudent financial management, and better oversight of power distribution systems. Improvements in infrastructure and effective monitoring, which have helped curb both technical and commercial losses, were also cited as contributing factors.</span></div>
