In just 10 days following the arrival of the southwest monsoon in Gujarat, the state has already received close to a third of its average annual rainfall. The seasonal rains, coinciding with the Rath Yatra festivities in Ahmedabad on Friday, have brought substantial precipitation across all districts.
As per the State Emergency Operation Centre&rsquo;s latest report issued at 6 am, Gujarat has recorded 256.96 mm of rainfall so far this monsoon, representing 29.13 per cent of the state&rsquo;s average yearly total.&nbsp;
Rain has been reported in all 251 talukas, with 24 of them registering rainfall exceeding 501 mm. These include Khedbrahma, Vadali, Khambhat, Jetpur Pavi, Jambughoda, Botad, Vyara, Dolvan, Bardoli, Kamrej, Palsana, Surat City, Umarpada, Chikhli, Khergam, Vansda, Dharampur, Kaprada, Pardi, Umergaon, Valsad, Vapi, Dang Ahwa and Vaghai.
Regional data indicates South Gujarat has received the most rain in proportion to its average, with 31.20 per cent already recorded. The East-Central region has followed closely at 30.93 per cent, Saurashtra has seen 30.36 per cent, and Kutch and North Gujarat have recorded 23.68 per cent and 21.50 per cent respectively.
Among the districts, Valsad has recorded the highest cumulative rainfall so far this season at 717.33 mm. Dang has received 568.67 mm, and Surat has logged 531.5 mm.
The southwest monsoon made landfall in Gujarat on June 16, progressing over most of the state by June 17. The remaining areas in the northern region were covered by June 18.
