The Gujarat CID (Crime) and the Railways&rsquo; Cyber Centre of Excellence have unearthed a ₹200-crore cybercrime network operating across India, with links traced to handlers in Dubai. The syndicate ran multiple scams, including fake job offers, digital arrest frauds, and cryptocurrency-based investment schemes, targeting victims nationwide.
Six people,&nbsp; Mahesh Solanki and Rupen Bhatiya (Morbi), Rakesh Lania and Rakeshkumar Dekawadiya (Surendranagar), and Naviya Khambhaliya and Pankit Kanthariya (Surat)&nbsp; have been arrested. The accused used fake trading firms and mule bank accounts to launder money, converting stolen funds into cryptocurrency before routing them to Dubai via hawala channels.
ASP Sanjaykumar Keshwala said,
&ldquo;They had registered a trading firm to open mule bank accounts. The money stolen from cybercrime victims was deposited in these accounts, converted into cash or cryptocurrency, and transferred to the Dubai-based syndicate.&rdquo;
Investigators have linked the group to 386 cybercrime cases across India, including 29 in Gujarat, and seized 12 mobile phones, SIM cards, and data from over 100 bank accounts. CID officials are now tracking the syndicate&rsquo;s international connections, suspecting a foreign mastermind behind the operation.
