Former BJP MLA Punam Makwana has filed a detailed complaint with the Gandhinagar Collector against Idar legislator and former minister Raman Vora, alleging large-scale irregularities in land transactions worth crores.
Makwana stated that in 2004, Vora acquired agricultural land in Palaj near Gandhinagar under survey number 281 through a partnership. Records between 2004 and 2016 continued to show his name alongside other partners in survey numbers 7-13 and 8-A. However, following a transfer deed, only Vora&rsquo;s name remained. He then prepared inheritance documents and transferred the property to his wife, Kusumben, and sons, Suhag and Bhushan.
According to Makwana, this land was later sold to Dinesh Patel for ₹3.07 crore. Patel obtained non-agricultural (NA) status for the property and resold it to Vora&rsquo;s sons for ₹13.50 crore. While the sale deeds listed cheque numbers and bank details, Makwana alleged that these payments were never cleared and were also excluded from income tax filings. He demanded that the authorities investigate possible tax evasion, verify the banking records, and take action under Sections 63 and 84-C of the Ganot Act, including restoring ownership to the original farmer partners.
The complaint further alleged that Vora obtained a forged farmer certificate under the name &ldquo;Ramanlal Ishwarlal&rdquo; to purchase additional agricultural plots in both Palaj and Dawad village of Idar. Supporting this claim, Ahmedabad resident Prakash Parmar submitted documents suggesting that Vora was not a farmer in several Dawad survey numbers and questioned why certain land deeds had been reversed.
It was also claimed that lands acquired in the names of Vora&rsquo;s family members were later sold to buyers in Virpur and Jadar. Jetpur Wadali resident Rajendra Patel, who sought access to these records, alleged that the Mamlatdar&rsquo;s office initially withheld documents due to political pressure. Patel even threatened suicide at the Mamlatdar&rsquo;s office, prompting the Revenue Department to transfer the official and reopen the inquiry.
Following these developments, the Gandhinagar Collector directed the Idar Deputy Collector to launch a detailed probe. Vora has been asked to appear with documents proving his farmer status and other supporting records. Authorities are examining whether fabricated farmer certificates and concealed financial transactions were used. If confirmed, Vora could face criminal charges and penalties under the Ganot Act.
