The Indian government has established a high-level committee to investigate the tragic crash of Air India Flight AI-171, which claimed 241 lives and left only one survivor. The flight, en route from Ahmedabad to London&rsquo;s Gatwick Airport, went down shortly after take-off on June 12.
This committee, led by the Union Home Secretary, includes officials from the Civil Aviation Ministry, Indian Air Force, DGCA, BCAS, Intelligence Bureau, and Gujarat&rsquo;s local authorities. Forensic, disaster management, and aviation experts may also be roped in.
The committee will examine the causes of the crash, review existing safety protocols, analyse key data including flight logs and cockpit recordings, and coordinate with international bodies if necessary.
It will also assess how rescue and coordination efforts were carried out and suggest improvements to align India&rsquo;s aviation response with global standards. A report is expected within three months.
