Nominations opened on September 16 and will close on September 22. A provisional list of candidates will be published on the same day. Scrutiny of papers is due on September 23, with the verified list made available on September 24. The final withdrawal date is set for September 29, while the confirmed list of contestants will be issued on September 30.
The cooperative sector has shown keen anticipation over the election, given that Banas Dairy is the largest dairy enterprise in Asia. Its beginnings trace back to 1966, when milk cooperatives were established in eight villages of Palanpur and Vadgam, supplying milk to Dudhsagar Dairy in Mehsana.&nbsp;
The Banaskantha District Cooperative Milk Producers&rsquo; Union Ltd received registration under the Cooperative Societies Act on January 31, 1969, becoming what is now Banas Dairy.
The facility started production on May 7, 1971, with a processing capacity of 1.5 lakh litres of milk per day, which later rose to 4 lakh litres. Over the years, the dairy has expanded into a fully automated operation equipped with advanced technology.
The declaration of the election has already stirred political activity across the cooperative network. Discussions are underway among various leaders and groups, with speculation over competing panels adding intensity.&nbsp;
