A Class 10 student of Seventh Day School in Ahmedabad&rsquo;s Khokhra area died on Tuesday after being stabbed by a Class 8 student, triggering violent protests and raising questions over school safety.
Police said the clash stemmed from a minor dispute days earlier but escalated when the junior, along with seven to eight others, attacked the victim outside the school premises. The injured boy was rushed to the hospital but succumbed during treatment.
The shocking incident sparked outrage. Relatives of the deceased and members of the Sindhi community stormed the school, attacking the principal and staff, vandalising classrooms, and demanding justice. Parents also blocked roads, alleging gross negligence by school authorities.
School administrator Mayurika Patel defended the institution, clarifying that the knife was kept in a car and not brought into the classroom. &ldquo;The accused child had a history of complaints. Action was taken earlier. Still, we will take strict action, including issuing an LC against the child,&rdquo; she said.
Khokhra police have registered a case of murder under the Juvenile Justice Act and are scanning CCTV footage. The attackers have been identified, and legal proceedings are underway.
District Education Officer Rohit Chaudhary confirmed that the school delayed informing authorities and has been issued a notice to explain its conduct. The school has since declared a holiday in tribute to the deceased student.
